Bumpei Usui, Portrait of a Girl, c.1926

This is one of the most distinctive works in the gallery.
Each of his canvases is filled with the artist’s personality
and gives the viewer an exceptional sense of intimacy.
The Carpenter’s Room” is also a masterpiece and a
triumph of the artist, but I prefer “Girl,” which is a
delightful, effortlessly executed painting. (Shimizu)
